Practical basics

Chute & corral maintenance

Simple checks that keep equipment working. Follow your operator’s practice.

Before you work cattle

  • Grease fittings where your chute has them
  • Use white lithium grease on rollers and other movement points
  • Check bolts, pins, and latches — snug and secure
  • On hydraulic units, look over hoses and fittings for wear or leaks

Keep the floor clear

Self-cleaning rebar floors work best when manure and buildup are cleaned out regularly so cattle have solid footing.

Paint and finish

Touch up nicks in the powder coat when you notice them so bare metal does not sit exposed longer than it has to.
