R&R Livestock Equipment
Minnesota Livestock Investment Grant
How this program works, in plain words.
Cost-share help from R&R
We’ll help you get started
You don’t have to figure out the Minnesota program alone. Our part is gathering the info the program needs and getting it in front of the right person, so they can get things moving.
- Tell us what you’re interested in. A chute, alley, tub or corral — and your county.
- We gather what the program needs. An itemized quote on R&R letterhead, plus the product specs and info your local office asks for.
- We get it to the right person, with you copied. We send it to the program office or agent who handles your application, with you on the email, so they can get things moving.

Good to know before you apply
This is a competitive grant: about $1.5 million is expected to go to 60 to 80 grants, and applications are scored and compared, so not every applicant is funded. (per MDA’s FY27 Livestock Investment Grant RFP)

Official program info: AGRI Livestock Investment Grant · FY27 Request for Proposals (PDF)
- Who runs it: Minnesota Department of Agriculture (statewide, not by county)
- How much: 50% of the first $20,000 of eligible costs, then 25% after that. Grants run $400–$25,000. One grant per farm in FY27.
- Deadline: 4 p.m. Central, Tuesday, Nov 17, 2026 (questions by Nov 10, 4 p.m.). Apply through MDA’s online system.
- Timing: Awards around February 2027. Projects start after your grant contract is signed.
Who qualifies
- A Minnesota resident or business that is the principal operator of a Minnesota livestock operation.
- At least $1,000 a year in livestock sales.
- A feedlot registration, if your operation needs one.
What equipment qualifies
- Livestock pens and corrals; sorting, restraining and loading chutes; scales (per the FY27 RFP).
What the quote and receipts must show
- The application budget table asks for a description, cost per unit, number of units, total and vendor for each item. You can upload vendor quotes.
- Don’t buy or sign anything yet. Purchases, contracts or bids from before your grant contract don’t qualify.
- If awarded: purchases of $10,000–$24,999 need at least 2 quotes, and $25,000–$99,999 need at least 3. Then buy, install and turn in paid receipts.
- Out-of-state dealers are fine. You can use quotes from out-of-state dealers like us, and buy from them if you’re awarded (per the program office, Nov 2026).
- Bidding rules: If you’re awarded, you must follow the “Contract and bidding requirements” on pages 17–18 of the FY27 RFP (PDF) (per the program office, Nov 2026).

Program rules change, so the details should be confirmed with your local program office before you buy — we can do that with you. Each program decides who qualifies and how much it pays — R&R Livestock Equipment doesn’t run these programs and can’t promise approval.
