R&R Livestock Equipment
Kentucky cost-share (CAIP)
How this program works, in plain words.
Cost-share help from R&R
We’ll help you get started
You don’t have to figure out the Kentucky program alone. Our part is gathering the info the program needs and getting it in front of the right person, so they can get things moving.
- Tell us what you’re interested in. A chute, alley, tub or corral — and your county.
- We gather what the program needs. An itemized quote on R&R letterhead, plus the product specs and info your local office asks for.
- We get it to the right person, with you copied. We send it to the program office or agent who handles your application, with you on the email, so they can get things moving.

Program details
Kentucky’s County Agricultural Investment Program (CAIP) has a Large Animal / Handling Facilities area that can help pay for chutes, tubs and gates. It’s a state program from the Kentucky Office of Agricultural Policy, but it’s run county by county through local ag development councils.
Official program info: Kentucky Office of Agricultural Policy · 2026 CAIP Large Animal guidelines (PDF)
- Who runs it: Kentucky Office of Agricultural Policy, through your county ag development council / program administrator
- How much: 50% cost-share. Your county sets the max, and it can’t go over $5,000 per producer per year statewide (2026 guidelines).
- Deadlines: There’s no single statewide deadline. Each of Kentucky’s 120 counties offers CAIP at different times (per the Kentucky Office of Agricultural Policy, Nov 2026). The 2027 guidelines aren’t posted yet. Your county program administrator sets your county’s dates, and we can find them out for you. Some counties don’t offer it every year. For example, Hardin County’s sign-up runs Oct 19 – Nov 10, 2026; Pulaski County’s next sign-up is in 2028, usually opening around May or June, and Adair County’s first round ends Jan 14, 2027, with no date set yet for round two (per those county offices, Nov 2026).
- County rules vary: Some counties let you apply every year, some every other year, and some split the money across every applicant.
- Grayson County: R&R equipment can qualify for 50% back, up to $5,000 (some items are 75/25). You can get pre-approved before you buy. An itemized invoice is required, and no cash payments. Applications are usually taken in the summer, with approvals announced in September. Approved producers have until about mid-February to make their purchases and turn in receipts (per the Grayson County conservation district, Nov 2026). The local board approves applications, so not everyone is approved, but we’ll help you get started. Kentucky’s program guidelines and applications are here: 2026 Program Guidelines and Applications.
- How applications are scored: Under the 2026 state guidelines, a county committee of at least three people scores every application, and only those at or above the county’s minimum score (at least 44) can be funded.
Who qualifies (2026 guidelines)
- Kentucky producers with at least 10 mature cows or 35 backgrounding cattle.
- Beef Quality & Care Assurance (BQCA) certification before funds are paid.
What equipment qualifies (2026 guidelines)
- Commercial headgate, crowding tub, holding / squeeze / working / loading chutes, gates, corral panels and scales.
What the receipt must show
- A dated receipt with buyer and seller info. No cash purchases.
- To get reimbursed, approved farmers turn in the invoice plus a cancelled check or credit card receipt (per the Kentucky Office of Agricultural Policy, Nov 2026).
- Some counties allow purchases up to 6 months before your agreement, so it’s worth checking first. We can ask your county for you.
- The Kentucky Office of Agricultural Policy says it doesn’t recommend or require buying from any one vendor over another (Nov 2026). Whether 2027 rules change is up to your county program administrator, and we can ask for you.

Program rules change, so the details should be confirmed with your local program office before you buy — we can do that with you. Each program decides who qualifies and how much it pays — R&R Livestock Equipment doesn’t run these programs and can’t promise approval.
